Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Remote application, CLI tool, and related services (collectively, the "Service") provided by Remote ("we," "us," or "our"), operated at getremote.app.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

Remote is a mobile application and command-line interface (CLI) tool that allows you to control AI coding agents (such as Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Gemini CLI) running on your computer from your mobile device. The Service includes:

• A mobile application ("App") for iOS and Android devices
• A CLI daemon that runs on your local machine with your user-level permissions
• A relay server that facilitates end-to-end encrypted communication between your devices

The Service does not provide AI capabilities directly. You must supply your own API keys for third-party AI services (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, Google). We do not charge for, manage, or have access to your AI usage or API keys.

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this minimum age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's consent to use the Service.

To use the Service, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration and to keep this information up to date. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

The Service is offered as a paid subscription at $15 per month. New users receive a 3-week free trial with no credit card required to start.

• After the free trial period, your subscription will begin and you will be charged the monthly fee unless you cancel before the trial ends.
• Subscriptions renew automatically each month. You may cancel at any time through your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• We reserve the right to change our pricing with 30 days' notice. Continued use of the Service after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
• Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis at our discretion.

The Service requires you to provide your own API keys for third-party AI providers. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree that:

• You are solely responsible for all costs incurred through your API keys, including charges from third-party AI providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google.
• We do not monitor, limit, or control your API usage. You are responsible for setting appropriate spending limits with your AI providers.
• You must comply with the terms of service of any third-party AI provider whose API keys you use with the Service.
• We are not responsible for any charges, overages, or fees incurred through your use of third-party API keys.

The Remote CLI daemon runs on your local machine under your user account and with your user-level permissions. By installing and running the CLI daemon, you acknowledge that:

• The daemon operates with the same file system permissions as your user account and can read, write, and execute files accordingly.
• AI agents initiated through the Service may create, modify, or delete files on your machine as part of their normal operation.
• You are responsible for reviewing and approving code changes made by AI agents. We recommend using version control (e.g., git) to track all changes.
• We are not responsible for any code changes, file modifications, data loss, or other consequences resulting from AI agent actions on your machine.

The Service uses NaCl/libsodium end-to-end encryption (E2E) for all communication between your mobile device and your computer. This means:

• Our relay server only processes opaque, encrypted blobs. We cannot read, access, or decrypt the content of your communications.
• Encryption keys are generated and stored on your devices. We do not have access to your encryption keys.
• If you lose your encryption keys (e.g., by uninstalling the app without backing up, losing your device, or resetting your machine), we cannot recover your data or re-establish your encrypted connection. You will need to re-pair your devices.
• You are solely responsible for the security of your devices and encryption keys.

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights
• Generate, distribute, or facilitate the creation of malicious code, malware, or any software intended to cause harm
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, other users' accounts, or any third-party systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
• Use the Service for any purpose that is fraudulent, deceptive, or harmful
• Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service without our prior written consent
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we determine, in our sole discretion:

• Violates these Terms or any applicable law
• Is harmful to other users, third parties, or our business
• Constitutes abuse of the Service or its infrastructure

You may terminate your account at any time by canceling your subscription and contacting us at support@getremote.app. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Without limiting the foregoing, we do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
• The results obtained from AI agents will be accurate, reliable, or suitable for any particular purpose
• Code changes made by AI agents will be free of bugs, errors, or security vulnerabilities
• The Service will be compatible with all devices, operating systems, or configurations

You use the Service at your own risk. You are solely responsible for reviewing, testing, and validating all code produced through the Service before deploying it to any environment.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL REMOTE, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
• Costs incurred through third-party API usage or API key compromise
• Damages resulting from code changes made by AI agents
• Loss of data due to encryption key loss or device failure
• Service interruptions or downtime

Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Remote and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights
• Code or content generated through your use of the Service
• Your use of third-party API keys in connection with the Service

The Service, including its design, features, and underlying technology, is owned by Remote and protected by intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of your code, projects, and any content you create using the Service.

We do not claim any ownership rights over code generated by third-party AI agents through the Service. Ownership of AI-generated code is subject to the terms of the respective AI provider.

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, providing additional notice (such as an in-app notification or email).

Your continued use of the Service after any changes to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding arising out of these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Remote regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and communications, whether written or oral.
